Google’s Street View Cameras
•April 30, 2009 • Leave a CommentCurrently available in five cities, the “Street View” function of Google Maps displays a 360-degree panorama of any location on the map — as if you were standing in the middle of the street and turning in a circle.
This revolutionary new camera was designed by Immersive media, the leading full motion, high rosultion, interactive spherical video platform and production services.

They use a Dodeca 2360 camera system uses 11 video streams capturing high resolution 360 degree view at 30 frames per second of surroundings that is seamlessly stitched together.
Only recently I discovered that our neighbor is driving a google street car, I look forward to quizzing him about the technology!
Later, photos can be extracted and stitched together to form pictures with a resolution of 2400 by 1200 pixel—a frame which is bigger than any high-definition image.
But at $45,000 for the camera, twice that with mounts and a base unit that processes images in real time, plus anywhere from $125 to $700 per mile of video footage, the rig doesn’t come cheap.
I also found others ways people have put 360 video to use.

rebekka guðleifsdóttir
•April 26, 2009 • Leave a CommentRebekka Guðleifsdóttir (born May 25, 1978) is a photographer from Iceland who was named the “Web’s Top Photographer” by the Wall Street Journal on July 29, 2006.
I really admire her style, her creativity and orignal approach to landscape and self portrait photography. Her bleek landscapes and self portraits provoke thoughts of loneliness and isolation.
She lived in Gainesville, Florida, U.S., from age 4 to age 11. She currently lives in Hafnarfjörður, near Reykjavík, Iceland. Her Flickr images led to her creating and appearing in a Toyota advertising campaign.
Microsoft Surface
•April 26, 2009 • Leave a CommentMicrosoft Surface
Discovering Microsoft Surface was a key moment in the development of our final year project. It was also the basis of our early research and a huge inspiration for us.
Although there are many similar projects in development including the Lumin and the Lambda table, Microsoft Surface adds real functionality to multi-touch technology.
Microsoft surface represents the next generation of customer digital interaction through multi-touch technology. It has a 30” inch tabletop display, where multiple users can get together to interact with the digital information.
Adobe Interactive Installation

In 2007 Adobe installed an interactive installation to showcase Adobe Creative Suite 3. The installation demonstrated some of the capabilities of the software package, but instead of using mouse and keyboard, visitors interacted with the installation by simply moving in front of a large screen.
Aurora User Interface
•April 24, 2009 • Leave a CommentI have become a lot more aware and interested in user interface since I was introduced to multi-touch technology. I came across this concept while researching and found it very interesting. How humans interact with computers is in for a dramatic change in the coming years.
Aurora is a concept video presenting one possible future user experience for the Web, created by Adaptive Path as part of a concept browser series. Aurora explores new ways people could interact with the Web in the future based on projected technological trends and real-world scenarios.
Adaptive Path has presented this new browser concept which was developed in partnership with Mozilla Labs and is an ongoing initiative to encourage designers and developers to contribute their own visions of the future of the browser and the Web.
Sphere: A Multi-Touch Interactive Spherical Display
•April 24, 2009 • Leave a CommentI came across this multi-touch device while researching for my final year project. It definately an approach I didn’t consider! It is definitely an avant-garde approach to multi-touch technology.
Microsoft’s multi-touch interactive spherical display, appropriately called “Sphere”, is a prototype that uses custom optics hardware as well as computer vision and graphics software to enable interaction on a 360 spherical surface. Global Imagination’s Magic Planet digital video globe was the basis and inspiration for Microsoft’s “Sphere”.
Taking its Surface touch-screen technology to another level “Sphere” is Microsoft’s bid to create the next hot, cutting-edge product in the world of touch-screen interaction, which for all intents and purposes is the next generation of user-computer interfacing. A technological revolution first set in motion essentially by Apple’s iPhone.
